Family Wellbeing is about supporting the social, emotional, cultural, spiritual and physical wellbeing of children, young people and their families (0-17years).  Skilled activities include engagement, assessment, goal setting, planning, interventions promoting positive change and increased safety, enhancing social outcomes for children, young people and their families.

  • Care and Protection

  • Careers and Employment

  • ECE Applications

In addition to individual family support, Family Wellbeing Services provide group sessions and workshops for groups of children, young people or their families in response to areas of need identified.

Derek Saumolia
Team Leader - Social Services
Registered Social Worker

Derek brings vast experience, engaging with children, young people and their families. A graduate of Te Wananga O Aotearoa, Derek is committed to champion the wellbeing of children and youth.   He has spent over 20 years working with children and youth. His most formative Social Work experience was 5 years with Child, Youth and Family Lower Hutt. He was the Youth and Young Adults Pastor at Knox Church Lower Hutt for 4 years until his appointment at Pacific Health Services 2019. Derek’s greatest achievement is as dad to 11 children with his wife Louise.
